DJI will continue to release new drones almost tirelessly in autumn 2023. This time it is the turn of a new member of the Mini series: DJI Mini 4 Pro.
Successor to the DJI Mini 3 Pro
It’s been less than a year since the DJI Mini 3 was released and just over a year since the DJI Mini 3 Pro was announced. With the Mini 4 Pro, DJI offers another drone in the lightest drone segment. Once again an excellent device for beginners!
DJI Mini 4 Pro: Highlights
The DJI Mini 4 Pro has the following features:
- 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor
- Photo: 48 megapixel photo resolution
- Video: 4K 60 fps / 4K 100 fps (slow motion)
- HDR video
- Focus track, timelapse, hyperlapse and waypoint function
- True vertical shooting
- Active obstacle detection in all directions
- 34 minutes flight time
Small improvements
It is mainly the small improvements that DJI uses to attract drone enthusiasts to buy the DJI Mini 4 Pro. The higher frame rate for videos and the improved obstacle detection will certainly also appeal to semi-professional aviators. The range of the device has been improved, although this always depends on the weather conditions and obstacles in the flight area.
Waypoint function
What also makes the DJI Mini 4 Pro interesting is the support for waypoint flights. You can let the drone fly along a predetermined flight route. This smart feature allows you to define points of interest along the route and tell the drone where to focus when taking images. You can set camera movement, altitude, speed, direction, tilt, zoom level and dwell time for each waypoint.
Interesting introduction for drone newbies
The DJI Mini 4 Pro is definitely suitable for drone beginners. Compared to other devices, the drone is still affordable and easy to take with you when traveling. Compared to the Mini 3 (Pro), obstacle detection is available in all directions.
EUDrone driving license
The DJI Mini 4 Pro weighs less than 250 grams. It is not mandatory for a pilot to acquire an EU drone license (A1-A3 certificate and A2 certificate). However, we find that some Mini owners still want to know about the drone rules before they start flying. Even if you later upgrade to a heavier aircraft, it is a good idea to at least get the A1-A3 certificate.
